It's Iftaar Time For Africa!

Our Nabi Muhammed (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“Whoever provides Iftaar to a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person without any reduction.”

Ramadhan Mubarak from Africa!

U.I.C.T organises feeding schemes and food hamper distribution programs in Africa throughout the year in favour of the needy, especially in impoverished regions where the need is more urgent to attend. This is made possible with the continuous support of our benefactors worldwide. During the Holy month of Ramadhan when our food-hampers campaign reaches its peak, we do our best to consider the specific needs of various regions and therefore implement tailormade programs for each region. We are in the service of African people in Ramadan, providing Sehri, Iftaar, distribution of freshly prepared hot meals and grocery hampers.

Our permanent Team members on the ground make sure that the entire operation is in order including the preparation of Iftar meals, the content of food hampers, ensuring that all donations reach the needy families. After your donation has been successfully delivered to the people, according to the manner you had intended we will thereafter notify you via SMS or post on social media to ensure that your donations have reached to their intended destinations. Like is the case in all our projects, in this campaign too, we aim to deliver the donations of benefactors to the needy in Africa at the right time, right place and by the right means.

What is Sawm (fasting)? What is the virtue of fasting?

Fasting is to abstain from food, drink and intimacy from Imsaq (dawn) until sunset. Fasting during the month of Ramadhan is Fardh (compulsory) upon a Muslim who has reached the age of puberty and is of sound mind. It is sufficient for a fasting person to make their intention in their heart. Likewise, if a person wakes up for Sahur, it is regarded as having intented to fast.

In addition to its religious and spiritual benefits, fasting has numerous benefits for the health, society, and morals and values. It comes in a Hadith al-Sharif wherein Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said:

“Everything has a Zakat. And the Zakat of the body is fasting. Fasting is half of patience.”

The fasting person endures deprivation for some time. However, this deprivation is not like that of a destitute person. Rather, a person experiences it voluntarily to achieve a noble aim. Thus, by showing patience to deprivation, a person is genuinely able to comprehend the struggles of the poor and the destitute. In this regard, a person’s sense of mercy, compassion and sharing rise which sets a good example to the society. By these means, one of the best examples of social unity is established. The joy and contentment of sharing cannot be expressed in words. It is an important human value that can only be comprehended through experience.

Virtues of Sponsoring an Iftaar Meal

Providing a fasting person with Iftar holds a great virtue. One can be hopeful, by feeding a fasting person, to gain thawab (reward) and closeness to Allah (Subhanahu). It is recommended and worthy of praise, especially for the rich, to provide Iftar to the poor and needy. The groups of people who need Iftar meals may include a person’s poor close relatives, the destitute people in the community, students of the Noble Qur’an and fellow Muslims around the world that live in the face of adversity

Our Nabi Muhammed (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“Whoever provides Iftaar to a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person without any reduction.”

U.I.C.T, through the support of our benefactors, provide Iftar-Sahur meals, food hampers to madrassa students and local villagers who live in destitution without access to adequate food or water. We sit at their tables, eat with them and share in their happiness. Through the support of our benefactors, we personally bring them the message, “You are not alone, we are with you!” In 2020, we have sprung into action again to fulfil their needs. We invite you to bring joy to the hearts of the needy and to experience the joy of sharing.

“The best person is he who is the most helpful, fulfilling people’s needs.”
